iPod Emergency
This morning I experienced a bona-fide iPod emergency.
Let me put this into perspective. I’ve been misbehaving with my money for most of my life. I knew that things were bad, because even though I was earning pretty good money I was always broke. Not fun, especially out here in Los Angeles.
Last year I moved back to Louisiana for a while, and discovered this crazy guy on the radio, Dave Ramsey. Dave is all about getting out of debt.
After listening to him on the radio for a few days I began to realize that there was substance in his message. I took action! I started downloading his radio show to my iPod everyday and listening to what Dave had to say. Now 7 months later I’m on a monthly budget. I have a baby emergency fund. I’ve paid off almost $20,000, and am well on my way to becoming debt free.
Seriously, I wish that I would have learned this stuff years ago.
OK, about that iPod emergency. I use a Griffin iTrip Auto to listen to my iPod in the car. It’s a great piece of technology that works well. This morning when I left the house I discovered that I had closed the door on the end of the pigtail last night. The end result? My iTrip’s cord was SEVERED!!! It just hung there like a lifeless snake… useless… I had to listen to political talk radio instead of Dave.
I’m certain that this qualifies as an emergency. That’s why Dave has you put away $1000 as a baby emergency fund. Now instead of Capitol One coming to the rescue with DEBT, I can just PAY FOR IT. What a great concept. I’ve got an emergency and I don’t have to borrow money to fix it. I can just withdraw $20 from my emergency fund and voila! no more emergency.
$20??? Ok I’ll just use some of my Blow money. That takes care of the problem too.
