Forever Tango
Last night I attended a performance of Luis Bravo's Forever TANGO at The Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford, Oregon.
After my introduction to Tango this weekend in Ashland it seemed like a great idea. Most of the people I met at the workshop were going, and I didn't know when I would have an opportunity to see this show again. Looking into my budget I decided to spend my entertainment money for the month on this show. The theater had one seat in the middle of a back row for $39. It was perfect for me.
The performance is two hours of some of the most amazing music and dancing that I've ever had the pleasure to witness. The dance was familiar, I'd just spent a weekend learning the basics and getting introduced to a little bit of the more advanced steps and techniques. Here they were on stage.
Forever TANGO portrays the history of Argentine Tango from the brothels of Buenos Aires, (and you thought that this scene in Moulin Rouge was made up, didn't you?) to the clubs and society of Paris in the 1920's and on into the modern era.
The costumes were gorgeous. Especially the second scene which was set in a brothel in Buenos Aires. The Madame was wearing a black sequined gown which sparkled, and shimmered, and glimmered as she introduced her girls to the men who had come in for an evening of pleasure. As the night progressed one other man came in and like a game of musical chairs there weren't any other girls to dance with. As he attempted to cut in the owner of the brothel told him he would have to wait? (the dialog was all in spanish so I'm not sure) As the lone man backs off he makes another attempt and the two guys dance Tango in a mock fight. The story is vividly told with the sexuality, the passion, the drama a live on the stage.
If you have a chance go see Luis Bravo's Forever TANGO!

I ADORE the tango. I took a class when I was in college and the instructor used me for a demonstration on how strong leaders can lead relative notices through anything. I couldnt even believe how amazing the dance he lead me through was. I was hooked. Now I am forever pestering my husband to tango with me, even if just around our house in our socks.
The show sounds amazing.
Erin,
Don’t pester your husband to Tango, seduce him into it. After all one of the keys to Tango is desire
