Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon
One of Ashland’s most attractive features is the little park that runs along Ashland creek. As a newcomer to Ashland I find this to be one of the most enjoyable and accessible parks of anywhere that I’ve lived. And I’ve lived in a lot of places. The entrance to the park is just at the top of the town’s plaza. There is a road that drives up alongside with plenty of parking which makes the walk into town after finding a parking place quite pleasant.
Spring time is in full swing and the local wildlife is beginning to come out. If it’s a sunny day you’re sure to find many small groups of high school and college students, families, singles, runners, bikers (bicycles), sunbathers, picnickers, readers, kite flyers, and such out among the lawns and trails of the park. Ok I haven’t actually seen anyone flying a kite, and bikes aren’t allowed on the trails. It’s still a fun place to hang out.
The other day was warm with plenty of sunshine and I saw a lot of people out wading in the creek. It looked very refreshing. It was a little bit cooler on the day that I snapped this photo of the bridge. No waders on that day.
The colors coming up in the park are amazing. Right now there are cherry blossoms showing soft pinks and whites in many places in the park. Lots of the trees are yet to sprout leaves, but there is a definite sense that full green is just around the corner.

Lithia Park in Spring is the most beautiful small town park I’ve had the good fortune to visit. Being that I grew up in the area, it has long been a favorite destination for a day’s outing. Nice photos, Philip.

Simpletwist,
After my workout today I went driving through Lithia park to see what last night’s snow fall did. The snow didn’t seem to get into the park too much, but the air was brilliantly clear and the green spring colors were popping out all over the place.
Thanks for the compliment.
No sign of any snow in Ashland today. Your post inspired me to take the road all the way up to the resevoir today - wishing I had had time to park up there and walk all the way down to town and back again. Anyway, thank you for the reminder to take the time to see the trees in the forest. Have you found the trails in the west of town yet? Check your local library for directions. :)L
PS oh, how I would love if you would include the option for commenters who fail to proofread to preview/edit their posts before submission!
