The Ahmed Family of Cairo gather with all the food they consume during one week.
Erin of
The Skinny Gourmet recently posted a great story about the food that families around the world eat each week. Her post
What the World Eats Each Week gives an excellent synopsis of the book
Hungry Planet
. She lists several photos like the one up top of the Ahmed family of Cairo, Egypt. If you notice they're listed according to budget from the most expensive in Germany at the equivelant of $500. U.S. down to Chad at $1.23 U.S. The book appears to be quite revealing of cultures from around the world. Going down through Erin's photos my thoughts were that I'd like to move in with the family in Egypt. That's why their photo is up top. Just judging by the photo their's looks like the healthiest diet. The Sicilian family appears to have some great fresh food also, but I'm partial to exotic cuisines.
Another thought was that the Ayme family in Tingo, Ecuador looks very happy.
If you go further into Erin's blog The Skinny Gourmet you'll find a wealth of wonderful recipes and stories. She's an excellent author, and I like her posts very much.

I did not see an email link, so I’m leaving this in your comments - Thank you for the response re: politics on the Dooce blog. Nice to know there are still sane and rational people out there.
Krista, Thank you for the comment. There is so much hysteria and misinformation out there it’s a wonder that our society even functions.
Well, I wasnt that partial to Egyptian cuisine…….a lot of the food was “perfumed” if you know what I mean. But I certainly tried just about everything! So in short, Im saying is, not so fast , re” the moving in with the Ahmed family!
