Oregon or Bust!

The one time cry of thousands of pioneers traveling across the American frontier is beginning to have new meaning for me as I limp North along the California coast. Yesterday my faithful Mitsubishi began making a horrendous noise. After all the work that PEPBOYS have done I’m hoping it will be something they can take care of quickly. I’m praying that the squealing and grinding are not coming from a critical part. I think it might be the A/C compressor which needed replacing anyway. I can survive without A/C for another summer (or two) All I really need is for my vehicle to survive for the next five days.

It’s Oregon or Bust Baby!

Because of my car problems I’m running a couple of days behind schedule. Not so terrible, I really don’t have a deadline to get to Bend. I do want to be in Ashland, Oregon Sunday morning for Mass at our Lady of the Mountain. It would be very nice to see my friends there once again.

This trip has been going very well. Mostly I’m on track on my trip plan. Gas prices have been steadily rising since January 2nd, but not so much that it has me worried. Instead of gassing up in Anaheim I just tooled around Los Angeles visiting friends until I’d used up a tank of gas. From there I headed North and I’ll probably skip gassing up in Goleta as well. We’ll see when I get there.

Meanwhile my visit in San Diego, Anaheim, and Los Angeles went very well. Much fun as I’m having I’m really looking forward to getting to Bend so I can get settled into my own place. It’ll be great to stop being a nomad for a while.

    Hey Philip,
Sending out good karma that there are no more car problems! I’m in Whistler this week–drove up from Portland last Friday. Good skiing, better nightlife, and I’m driving home with a new battery in my little Sake Rocket :) Luckily, no alternator issues for me ;)
Have a good rest of your trip!
    Cheers!

Thanks for the good karma wishes Nancy. Whistler must have been so great, I’m a little bit jealous. What flavor Sake Rocket are you driving?

  3. Nancy says:

Acura RSX Type S; not your plain vanilla kind of car.
Don’t be too jealous about Whistler…lots of rocks showing and run closures for lack of a good base–Hood and Bachelor are comparably better. The Whistler clubs are rockin’ though! :)
