Ok, so I’ve been blogging for a year now. It’s been an interesting exercise. Part of it has been the hope of financial gain from writing a blog that attracts a lot of readers. Most of you reading this are probably close friends and family, and it’s been a way to keep up with the things that I’ve been doing. Thanks so much for reading.
So much has happened in the past year it’s really amazing. I’ve gone from Malibu, California to Oregon. Had a great road trip across the American West and landed in New Braunfels, Tx where I piled up a bunch of cash so that I could move to Bend, Oregon.
I’ve been in Bend for just over a month now and I’m really loving this town. Right from the beginning its been great place to live. The obstacles have been minor, and I’ve met some great people. People who are involved and engaged in making Bend one of the best towns in the country.
It also helps that Bend has a Bikram Yoga studio. Yes! I’m practicing again. Yesterday I completed 30 days of a 90 day challenge that I’m giving myself. That means that I practice every day for 90 days. So far I’m quite pleased with the results. When I began I weighed about 240 lbs. Much heavier than I’ve ever been, and I didn’t feel good about that at all. It was a tight fit into my jeans (38″ waist) and my long belt was on its last notch. Ugh! Ok, 30 days later my jeans are fitting more loosely, and I’m down to the first notch on my belt. That’s at least 4″ off of my waist in a month. Not sure what I weigh because I haven’t been near a scale since leaving Texas. Doesn’t matter, its the inches that count. The goal is to drop down to a 32″ waist which should put me at about 190 Lbs. We’ll see how things work out.
Besides doing Bikram I’m also walking a lot more. My apartment is walking distance to almost everywhere. This month I budgeted $60 for gas. Figured that I’d use two tanks just running around doing general errands. So far I’ve only spent $32 on gas. That’s a huge difference from the $350 a month I was burning up in Los Angeles.
Here’s to an amazing Year coming up.
Phil,
So good to have you in bend. I’m excited about the cut-backs!! I too have been riding my bike more often and have used a half a tank of gas in over a month!! Sweet!
Looking forward to being a part of On the Go-Go with you.
See you around1
